Horse farm in Lexington/Paris area looking for a mechanic/handyman.
Primary responsibilities will be light repair and maintenance of farm equipment (tractors, trucks, trailers, farm machinery, etc), farm water systems, farm electrical systems. Secondary will be light repair and maintenance of structures - minor plumbing and electrical repair, barn/shed repair, occasional finish work such as painting or drywall.
Ensure that shop area is kept picked up and clean, track maintenance schedules and inventory of parts/fluids for tractors, trucks and mowers. You will need some computer/internet skills to use computerized tracking program and order parts.
You must be clean, neat and careful. If you are the "get a bigger hammer and a torch" guy, this will not be a good fit.
We provide tools, supplies, and shop area - you need reliable transportation.
This position is full time, year round. 40 hours per week, occasional overtime. Paid weekly by direct deposit (taxes withheld, must have a bank account).
NOTE: If you reply, please tell me about your skills and experience, as well as pay requirements.
UPDATE: Couple of things have come up:
1) Please send me a way to contact you (email or phone number) and check your junk folder. Several of my replies have ended up in junk folders because of the craigslist re-mail address.
2) I have had several heavy equipment mechanics reply looking for very large pay packages. This is not that kind of job. This is maintenance and light repair. If a clutch needs to be changed in a tractor, or engine rebuilt in a truck, it is going to the shop. I mention this because there may be people who think they are not good candidates because they do not know how to take the transmission out of a Cat D10
